House extension and refurbishment

We are very excited that Planning Permission has been granted for this refurbishment and side extension to a 1940s end of terrace former council house.

The brief was to completely refurbish the house, to provide for a modern, minimalist, spacious and light filled interior with additional space on the ground floor and a particular emphasis on energy efficiency, concealed storage & low maintenance materials.

All of the original internal walls on the ground floor will be removed. The floors will be replaced with an insulated slab and underfloor heating, creating a warm floor to walk on. The external walls and roof space will be insulated with high-quality insulation.

The rear wall of the house will be opened up to create a new large slim-framed window and glazed door, offering views of the large garden. An extension to the side provides space for utility, bicycles, washing and a downstairs shower room. This room can be entered from the front and rear gardens as well as from the kitchen. It has a pitched roof which rises to the rear, giving height and additional high level storage space.
